MICHAEL J. KRASNER
New York Upstate Chapter APA President

It is with deep sadness that we report the unexpected death of Michael Krasner, on Wednesday, February 4, 2004.  Mike served as a member of the Chapter Executive Board for the past several years, and was currently serving as President.  A practicing professional for more than 25 years in public, private and academic sectors, Mike was with the Erie County Division of Planning since 1986 and served as a Senior Planner.  He was a charter member of APA and a member of AICP since 1980.

From the Western New York Section of the NY Upstate Chapter of APA, Mike received awards for "Distinguished Service to Section" (1994) and "Distinguished Leadership:  Professional Planner" (2002).  Mike was also an adjunct professor at the SUNY/Buffalo Department of Urban and Regional Planning.  Mike also served as a volunteer member of the Town of Cheektowaga Conservation Advisory Committee and the Stiglmeier Park Steering Committee.  Thanks to Mike's promotion of Buffalo with the APA, the association will hold its 2005 National Executive Conference here in September.

Mike will be missed by all who knew him.
